Operation and technical characteristics.
- Yarn sets
One of the first steps in the use of the system is the creation of yarn
sets which can be used later in the design and creation of the fabrics.
PENELOPE makes it possible to define yarns of all kinds: plain yarns,
twisted yarns with several ends, mixed, printed, with fancies (loop yarns,
flames, slub, etc.)
All parameters for the yarns (name, color, composition, price, supplier,
etc.) can be quickly and simply defined by the user. With a scanner, it
is easy to define colors from fabric samples, yarns or Pantone type or
similar color samples.

- Editing the basic data for a fabric.
To design each sample, the system has a number of
flexible, effective tools which enable the designer to edit each of the
components of a fabric: warp, weft, weave, technical data, etc.
The system enables the creation of multiple color ways to study shades
and choose the most suitable ones. The designer can immediately see the
changes made to the warp or the weft in the simulation of the sample.

Graphic creation of weaves, drafts, variable reeds with empty dents, peg
plans with weft retentions and two-sided and double clothes are allowed
in the system. The weaves, drafts and peg plans can be filed separately
for later use in other samples.
From the weave, the system can calculate a draft and a peg plan or vice-versa.
If your company already has a file of weaves, drafts or peg plans, our
system has a function which, by means of a scanner, enables fast and effective
recognition for inclusion.

- Simulating the fabric on a screen or in a color
printout
From
the real data of the fabric, the system makes it possible to visualise
the fabric on a screen and/or in a color printout in real size. All the
parameters that determine the real sizes of each fabric are taken into
account. The program represents all the details of all kinds of fabrics
exactly (weft loss effects, two-sided and double clothes, finish effects,
etc.). The great similarity between the fabric and the computer simulation
means that decisions can be taken without buying yarns or weaving a measure..
On the on-screen simulation of one or more samples, the designer can modify
any of the initial parameters and see the result of those modifications
instantly.

Technical documentation
The system prints the technical data of a fabric in a standard format.
The documentation includes the technical file for the article, manufacturing
orders, blanket manufacturing sheets (with calculation of the yarn requirements),
and a pricing sheet.
The customer can request a technical file which is different from the
standard one, or any other kind of documentation, subject to estimate.

- Advanced functions of the PENELOPE system.
1. Use of the scanner in the following functions:
-
Automatic calculation of the colors captured with
the scanner from yarn samples, fabric samples, Pantone type color
supports or similar originals.
-
Recognition and introduction into the system of
an existing file of weaves, drafts and peg plans.
-
Assistance with sample analysis: from the
image of a fabric, the system can calculate the arrangements of the
warp and weft. In addition to the zoom function, it enables an easy
visual analysis of the weave.
2.
Piece dyeing function of the articles. The program presents all the component
materials of a fabric and enables individual dyeing.
3. Automatic shade generator: from the basic
sample and a color card, the program generates all possible color combinations.
4. Consulting the data base, for example:
in how many fabrics is a particular yarn used in a particular season?
How many designs go to make up our set of samples for a season and how
many yarns are there in each one and in total?
5. Distribution of designs and technical
data via INTERNET
6. Connection with external systems. The
system is equipped to send the technical data for the fabrics to the computer
manufacturing and marketing management system already installed in the
company. This avoids having to enter the technical data for the fabrics
into the management system again.
7. Connection with shaft machines, card punchers,
draft machines and computer sample looms
